In support of the National Year for the Prevention of Child Abuse & Neglect, Child Protection Unit Network (CPU-Net) brings to Manila the 7th Asian Regional Conference of the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN). Medical, legal and psychosocial professionals, government agencies and non-governmental organizations have been working to address the gaps in child protection services but much still needs to be done. The conference will concentrate on four main themes: child physical and sexual abuse children in conflict with the law children in natural disasters child sex tourism and trafficking President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo issued the Proclamation 1137, declaring October 2006 to October 2007 as the National Year for the Prevention of Child Abuse & Neglect. The president joined the CPU-Net and its partners in the launching of the campaign at the Asilo de San Vicente de Paul on November 6, 2006.
