Abstract Submission Instructions
The person submitting the abstract will serve as the main author (the main point of contact for correspondence). It will be assumed that this person will also be a primary speaker delivering a paper or an interactive presentation at the Congress.

  • Abstract Submission Deadline is 31 May 2007. Abstracts submitted after this date will not be considered.

  • Authors are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts online by following the link at the bottom of this page. Please do not submit an abstract more than once.

  • If you have already submitted an abstract for the Xth ISPCAN European Regional Conference ( Berlin, September 2005), or the XVIth ISPCAN International Congress (York, September 2006) you do not need to submit your personal information once again (by completing the ‘Add a speaker’ part). Instead, you should log in with the email and password you created for the previous ISPCAN events conference and simply add an abstract which will automatically be considered for the Asian Conference.

  • Correspondence will be sent to the main author only, at the email address provided by the author.

  • All authors of accepted abstracts are required to register for the Congress by 21 July 2007. Failure to do this will result in the abstract being excluded from the program. We encourage authors to register by 10 June 2007, in order to take advantage of the Early Bird registration rate.

  • All abstracts will be considered on the basis of individual merit by the Scientific Committee, and will be ranked according to the following criteria:
    • Relevance to the congress theme, “I am for the Child.”
    • Relevance to the selected stream
    • Importance and relevance of the content to the international audience.
    • Reference to anti-discriminatory issues

  • The Scientific Committee will select submissions for papers, workshops, and interactive presentations and will inform all applicants of the selection process by email by 15 May 2007. The selected abstracts will be finally accepted only after the presenter’s completed registration is received. Presenters are required to pay the conference registration fee.

  • English is the official language of the congress; therefore, abstracts must be submitted in English only
  • Abstracts should not exceed 300 words. All abstracts should be single spaced, the 12-point Times New Roman font is preferred.

As you submit an abstract please select one of the following which best describes the nature of your proposed presentation:

  • Report on research study. This should include objectives/purpose, method, results and conclusions.
  • Programme, technique, policy description (including theoretical basis) with evaluation data
  • Programme, technique, policy description (including theoretical basis) without evaluation data
  • Skills development (list what specific skills are covered in the presentation)

PRESENTATION FORMATS

Interactive Presentations
Interactive presentations will be grouped according to streams. Authors will be expected to display written materials on a board and then be present beside their written materials during the specified presentation time to join in the grouped discussion of the interactive presentations with the Conference participants. Further instructions will be provided in the abstract acceptance letter.

Paper
The time allocated for oral presentations is 20 minutes (15 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for discussion and questions). Please note that the duration of different paper presentations in the Final Program might slightly vary.

Workshop
There is an expectation that workshops will be interactive sessions exploring issues in depth. The presentation length is 45 minutes depending on the level of interaction. Workshops are not didactic presentations and must involve audience participation.

Symposium
Each symposium will be composed of four or five linked papers. Authors interested in presenting at a symposium are requested to submit an abstract. The abstract should identify which other three or four people would present in the symposium. Symposia should provide as broad a picture of a topic as possible. Lead presenters will be responsible for organizing the symposium and its presenters.
